Those who know the Fattoria di Collemezzano, describe it as a magic place. The magic comes from a unique mix of history, nature and hospitality everyone would like to experience at least once in his life.

The core of the Fattoria di Collemezzano is a historic building, the anciant hunting lodge of Leopold II in the XIX century.

The main house together with the annexes   _ the pigeon house, the coaches room, the oil mill (frantoio) and the little chapel_  were transformed into the present “agriturismo” by the family Russo over more than 30 years of restoration, dedication and care.

The apartments into which the original structures have been trasformed, evoke the atmosphere of the arisocratic people who spent their leisure days here.

Our guests enjoy the tranquillity of the place and indulge in pleasant hours with friends or family, walks along the lanes lined by old cypresses or enjoy an informal dinner in the dining room of the main house.

Nature surrounds the Fattoria with 43 hectars of woods, olives groves, typical mediterranean trees and bushes. It makes this Agriturismo the perfect place to relax.

A garden, a fruit orchard and farm animals complete the farm character and atmosphere where one goes back to the time when life’s pace was determined by nature and its laws.

Together with the beauty of the place, a guest can find here the special and unique hospitality of Francesca and her team. Their friendly and warm attention make their guests feel at home and cared for. Children and adults are welcome to share a conversation and a laugh like friends do.

If you love art or long walks you find everything in the area. Many ancient “borghi” offer a wonderful opportunity to go through the different cultures that crossed this part of Tuscany. Those who love sports like biking and hiking have great choices in the nearby area.

THE SEA
The Costa degli Etruschi (The Etruscan Coast) is beautiful for the variety: rocks and long sand beaches are there for any kind of taste and activity

The Fattoria di Collemezzano is only 4 km from the closest beach, Le Gorette.

Le Gorette satisfy many needs, There is a free zone “do-it-yourself”.  But also organized areas where you can rent a deck chair, a beach bed and unbrella or even a gazebo for those who desire even more comfort.

There is also a restaurant and a bar/ cafe for a drink or a sandwich available to everybody.

The coast is characterized by an extensive pine woods all along the beach. In the pine wood there are trails to walk and to ride a bike and picnic areas where one can find shelter from the early afternoon sun.

For those who do not mind driving a few kms, there are many other places along the Coast degli Etruschi. Particularly attractive is the high rocky coast line from Quecianella to Livorno celebrated in some famous movies.  Also worth mention are the long sandy beach of Marina di Donoratico and the beach of San Vincenzo as well as the beautiful, stony beach of Marina di Cecina.

In any case the whole coast  obtained the “ Blue Flag”  because the experts proved this part of the coast is one of the cleanest in the Tirrenian sea. Together with the pine woods and the many trails to walk or to ride, this is the place for a perfect holiday.

ART AND CULTURE
From the cities of art to the small characteristic  medieval “boghi”

The Fattoria di Collemezzano is located in the heart of Tuscany; from here you can easily reach  Florence, Pisa, Lucca, or Siena in one hour.

In “day trips” you can visit these towns that are among the most famous for Medieval and Renaissence Art.

Some other very famous places even closer to The Fattoria di Collemezzano, are the medieval towns of Volterra, San Gimignano, Castagneto Carducci, a “ must” for many tourists from all over the world.

At a short distance from the Fattoria,  there are important spa where our guests can enjoy the beneficial and relaxing effects of thermal natural waters such pas Tombolo Talsso Resort (25 mins), Calidario ( 40 mins) and Cerreta (40 mins).

SPORT
Many possibilities for sport and nature fans

Many of our guests are particularly attracted by the wonderful possibilities offered in this area in regard of sport and nature activities.

Bikers can leave the Fattoria and ride long distances on the many roads on the hills surrounding the area. In Cecina one can rent a bike by the hour or by the day. Unless you want your own bike you do not need to bring one from home.

If you are an individual hiker you can find long trails in the woods on the hills but you can also

take guided tours with local experts on alternative itineraries.

Two kms from the Fattoria, there is “Il Giardino Sospeso” a so called “Adventure Park” where you run acrobatic routes. The levels of difficulty are different. Suspended platforms are interconnected with passages at different levels of difficulties and length. Amusement is guaranteed.

Our sea is loved by those who love surfing and sailing. You can practise these sports in complete authonomy or, alternatively, subscribe for individual or group classes in surfing and sailing schools.
